Start a club - teach kids how to be powerful public speakers
Being a Lantern League coach is an exciting opportunity to join a global team of change makers. You will be given everything you need to run a thriving club. This includes video training, 1on1 skype coaching with Nathalie Brewer from our Head Office in Australia, secure log in to our members page and access to download and print all club materials.
FIRST STEP
Firstly, check the scroll down menu on the FIND A CLUB page to find out if there is a Lantern League Club near you. If there is no other active club within a 20km radius then you are able to apply. Anyone aged 18 and over can start up a Lantern League at your school, organisation or in your local community.
SECOND STEP
Schedule a Zoom interview with Nathalie Brewer, Founder of Yellow Lantern and Lantern League Global. She will ask you some questions about why you want to start a club and teach public speaking to kids. This is to insure you are a good fit and have the right personality for the job (to request a Zoom call, register your interest to the right).
At Lantern League it is the young people who
run the show. They volunteer for club roles and speaking spots. After a
few sessions, club members will be able to run your club from start to
finish with only a little guidance from you.

to experience feelings of safety, freedom & belonging in the group. You will need to posses a positive, passionate and
nurturing attitude along with a talent for youth training. You will also need to be a self starter. It will be your job to find a club venue, attract club participants and collect fee's from parents.

THIRD STEP
If you have a successful Zoom chat with Nathalie Brewer, you will be offered the opportunity to start your own club. It is very affordable and will equip you with a manual which covers everything you need to run a thriving club with ongoing support. You will be required to pay an annual fee for the license to run your club (this fee varies between countries).
How to run your club...
We recommend you run 1hr 15min Lantern League sessions after school, once per fortnight. You may like to use a local hall, school or community venue or even online. A club needs at least 6 members to be effective.
Fee's charged to members will be decided by each individual country. It may vary slightly from club to club depending on the associated costs of hiring a venue. Members are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 months (or one term). A new member's first session is always free.
Upon becoming a licensed club, you will have access to training video's and session handouts, everything you need to run your club.
At the end of each session, you will run 10minute breakout workshops for your club members. These short workshops really help elevate their skills and get the most our of their experience. You are permitted to deliver training on which ever area you feel your club needs.
The teacher notes for the following 10 min workshops are provided for you in your manual:
- How to choose magnificence
- Break through nerves
- How to have fun making mistakes
- Structure a great speech, poem or song
Ongoing Support
By starting a Lantern League club you will be empowering a new generation of leaders who speak from the heart.
